This was so good, so thoughtful, so wonderful to have three of my own major influences brought together in one great place. Thanks Stephen (and you should write more about your trip to the Abbey, and bring the back catalog (ha!) of Thomas Merton into the conversation.) I was with Brueggemann not long ago and we chatted about Berry a bit, but I didn't ask him about Springsteen. Thanks for connecting the dots. And thanks to Art House.

Lancia E. Smith comments on The Graduation Card

Lancia E. Thank you for this finely crafted piece that so beautifully embodies the message you are sharing. And it is a particular delight to see you carrying forward a similar spirit and gifting as your mother, herself such a remarkable writer and friend. You give me hope in what you are modeling as a writer, daughter, wife and human being. Many blessings to you.

Adam Bray comments on The Prophetic Imagination of Bruce Springsteen

Thank you! I immediately started thinking about Brueggemann when I first heard We Take Care of Our Own and haven't been able to NOT hear the album through that lens. I've been hoping someone else would make a similar connection and write about it. Great work!

Heather comments on Why We Gather

Thank you! What a good part of your legacy to receive and to impart. There's something very sacred there. Thanks for sharing.

cynthia dare comments on Doxology and Desire: Making Small Things New

Thanks for whistling to the Towhee birds and for singing and writing to me...

Jenny White comments on Why We Gather

Andi- this is so beautiful. Such an inspiration.

Jaimie (subscribe to my blog if you like!)

Tamara @ This Sacramental Life comments on Called to the Table

I can't tell you how much I loved this post. I carry a similar list of people in my mind and memory, unsure what to do with them. For example, one day a few years ago, I noticed a father and daughter (I presume) in a car that passed me on the highway. Something about their expressions (sad? angry? despairing?) caught my attention so deeply that I decided to ditch my plans and follow them up a two-lane rural route for almost 35 minutes, praying for them the entire way. Eventually, I turned around and drove back to my regularly scheduled day. But I've never forgotten them. And always wondered why I felt so compelled to notice them. I'd love to have them to dinner, to hear their story.

I'm going to make my own fantasy dinner lists following your example. Thank you!

Lancia E.
